The 17th Great Tropical Jazz Party was held in the Water Garden Oasis of the newly renovated Picnic Bay Hotel, on the 24 & 25 August 2013.
This year the format was changed slightly to two daytime concerts - Saturday & Sunday afternoons and one evening concert, followed by the big Jam Session on Saturday night. Sunday evening will be the musicians’ wind-down dinner & informal jam session.
While our financial future was looking grim, we have had an unexpected anonymous donation of $5,000 which eased the pressure and with the Townsville Council’s Grant, will enable us to plan ahead for 2014.
Because our future was in doubt, we decided to feature the brilliant Australian musicians who have contributed so much in the past to make this such an iconic jazz festival.
Accordingly, we invited all our favorite members of our Jazz Family who create such magical vibes from the joy of playing together.
